SQUASH PLAYERS

SQUASH PLAYERS

Squash Players are some of the fittest and strongest athletes you could ever come across.

Though Squash hasn't thrown about a major sporting hero that has a broader mass appeal, the game has its own legends like Alex Eichmann, Jahingir Khan, Peter Nicol and Jonah Barrington and not to mention the Aussie champion John Hunt.

The present squash scene in men category is dominated by players form Egypt with as many as 5 players in the top 20 with Amr Shabana as the current reigning number 1 as per the PSA rankings. England also has 5 players in the top 20 while Australian David Palmer is number 2 and Anthony Ricketts at number 7.

Diet and Squash Players

Squash Players have to follow a strict diet and fitness regimen to survive the rigors of the sport. High Carbohydrates and Hi Fats are a big “no- no” while a protein rich diet is welcome along with complex carbohydrates underlining the need for intake of the right kind of carbohydrates.

You need a coach if you are a beginner

If you aspire to be a squash player your fitness needs to be right up there. Also it is of utmost importance to get a good squash coach and take proper lessons before you start wielding the racket in a court. It would make little sense, if you grab hold of a pal, read up some stuff, equip yourself with the rules and just step on the court and pronto. Not only will you play randomly and in a haphazard manner but also you would be exposing yourself to the risk of an injury. Ultimately you will not enjoy the game and quit playing.

So, heres a pointer; squash is not a do-it-yourself kind of sport. Before you step on the court, do make sure you have a coach next to you.

Drive your opponent up the wall, Corner your opponent

This is something a coach would most definitely tell you. The surest way to win a point is to make sure the ball grazes the side walls and play along the corners to make it as difficult as possible for your opponent to hit the ball back. Remember, on the court, the side wall is your best pal!

Warm Up before and cool down later

Cardinal Rules. Never ever start playing without proper warm ups and never ever leave without proper cooling down. You will just save yourself of a lot of injury and hospital visits.

Finally, enjoy the game. It's a great stress buster.
